Die Red Hot Chili Peppers sind eine amerikanische Rockband, die 1982 in Los Angeles gegründet wurde. Die Band ist bekannt für ihren Sound, der Funk, Punkrock und Hardrock mit psychedelischen und lateinamerikanischen Einflüssen vermischt. Die ursprüngliche Besetzung bestand aus Anthony Kiedis (Gesang), Flea (Bass), Hillel Slovak (Gitarre) und Jack Irons (Schlagzeug). Nach dem tragischen Tod von Slovak im Jahr 1988 stieß John Frusciante als Gitarrist zur Band hinzu und prägte den charakteristischen Sound der Red Hot Chili Peppers.
