Owl City ist ein amerikanisches Indie-/Synth-Pop-Musikprojekt, das von Adam Young 2007 gegründet wurde. Zunächst als unabhängiger Künstler tätig, veröffentlichte er zwei Alben, bevor er bei Republic Records unterschrieb. Der Durchbruch gelang 2009 mit dem Debütalbum *Ocean Eyes*, das dank des Singles *Fireflies* international erfolgreich war. Der Song wurde zum globalen Phänomen und sicherte Owl City vier Platin-Zertifizierungen in den USA. *Ocean Eyes* wurde im April 2010 in den USA mit Platin ausgezeichnet. Young veröffentlicht weiterhin Musik unter dem Namen Owl City und erforscht elektronische Sounds und nachdenkliche Atmosphären. Zu seinen späteren Alben gehören *All Things Bright and Beautiful* (2011) und *Mobile Orchestra* (2015). Neben den Hits wie *Fireflies*, *Good Time* (eine Zusammenarbeit mit Carly Rae Jepsen) und *Vanilla Twilight* ist Owl City für seine eingängigen Melodien, die nachdenklichen Texte und den innovativen Einsatz von Synthesizern bekannt.
