Glen Hansard (born 21 April 1970 in Dublin, Ireland) is the principal songwriter and vocalist/guitarist for Irish rock group The Frames. He is also known for starring in the films Once and The Commitments. Hansard co-wrote the song, "Falling Slowly", which appeared in Once. "Falling Slowly" and his success with the song and performance in Once resulted in Hansard winning an Academy-Award for Best Original Song, and between 2007-2008 earned him no less than ten other major nominations or awards altogether.
