The Mountain Goats sono un gruppo musicale folk rock statunitense formatosi nel 1991 a Claremont, California, dal cantautore e polistrumentista John Darnielle. Il nome del gruppo deriva da una canzone di Screamin' Jay Hawkins intitolata "Big Yellow Coat".
