Windir è stata una band norvegese di black/folk/viking metal, attiva dal 1996 al 2005. Originaria di Sogndal, la band ha caratterizzato le proprie canzoni con un sound oscuro e atmosferico, influenzato dalla tradizione musicale norrena e dalle sonorità folk del dialetto locale. Il loro stile musicale è stato definito da molti come una fusione unica tra l'aggressività del black metal e la melodia evocativa del folk. I Windir hanno pubblicato tre album in studio: "Sognattar" (1997), "Arntor" (2001) e "1184" (2004).
