The Kinks sind eine britische Rockband, die 1963 in London gegründet und bis 1996 aktiv war. Sie gelten als eine der einflussreichsten Bands der British Invasion und hinterließen mit ihrem charakteristischen Sound, der eingängige Pop-Melodien mit nachdenklichen und oft satirischen Texten verband, einen bleibenden Eindruck auf die Rockmusik. Zu ihren bekanntesten Songs gehören "You Really Got Me", "All Day and All of the Night", "Waterloo Sunset", "Lola" und "Days". The Kinks wurden 1990 in die Rock and Roll Hall of Fame aufgenommen.
