(Leonard Bernstein/ Stephen Sondheim)
West Side Story is a story about two rival gangs, about racial differences, about hate which isn't able to kill love between two people -- even though they killed the one, and about hope which brightens the darkest confusion. "There's a place for us -- somewhere." L. Bernstein's fantastic musical is -- unfortunately -- more realist than ever. With the dying Tony in her arms, Maria grasps onto hope -- to the dream -- that there MUST be a place where love can thrive. It is this dream which gives her the power to live on. There is a place, there forward, which calls to us and which makes us straighten our backs and struggle over the highest mountains. The Ash Boy is not the only one who has seen the fabled Soria Moria.
Sissel.
There's a place for us,
somewhere a place for us.
Peace and quiet and open air
wait for us
somewhere
There's a time for us
someday a time for us.
Time together with time to spare,
time to learn
time to care.
Someday, somewhere
we'll find a new way if living.
We'll find a way of forgiving.
Somewhere.
There'a a place for us,
a time and place for us.
Hold my hand and we're halfway there.
Hold my hand and I'll take you there
somehow, someday, somewhere...
Der musikalische text SOMEWHERE von SISSEL ist auch in dem Album vorhanden Soria moria (1989)
