The Dear Hunter è un progetto musicale full-time di Casey Crescenzo, ex membro della band post-hardcore The Receiving End of Sirens. Il sound del gruppo non è dissimile da quello della precedente formazione di Crescenzo, ma con tendenze più alternative e progressive rock, oltre a una varietà più ampia di strumenti musicali. Crescenzo ha definito il progetto come un "concept album in continua evoluzione", con ogni album che rappresenta un capitolo di una storia narrativa complessiva.
