Echo and the Bunnymen sono un gruppo musicale britannico di Liverpool formatosi nel 1978. Il nucleo originario era composto da Ian McCulloch (voce), Will Sergeant (chitarra) e Les Pattinson (basso). In seguito si unì il batterista Pete de Freitas. Il loro debutto discografico, *Crocodiles*, risale al 1980, seguito da *Heaven Up Here* nel 1981. Entrambe le opere ottennero un notevole successo di critica e contribuirono a consolidare la reputazione del gruppo all'interno della scena musicale indipendente britannica. Nel 1983 raggiunsero il Top Ten con il singolo *The Cutter*, estratto dall'album *Porcupine*.
