The Roots è un gruppo hip hop statunitense formatosi a Filadelfia nel 1987. Il nucleo fondante del gruppo è composto dal rapper Black Thought e dal batterista e produttore Questlove, che hanno collaborato con diversi musicisti, cantanti ed MCs nel corso degli anni. Considerati uno dei gruppi più influenti della scena hip hop contemporanea, The Roots sono noti per la loro musica caratterizzata da un sound jazzistico e funk, spesso arricchito da arrangiamenti complessi e improvvisazioni dal vivo.
