Statik Selektah, eigentlich Patrick Baril, ist ein US-amerikanischer DJ, Musikproduzent und Radiomoderator, der 1980 in New York City geboren wurde. Als einer der wichtigsten Vertreter der amerikanischen Underground-Hip-Hop-Szene zeichnet sich Statik Selektah durch seinen Produktionsstil aus, der Vintage-Samples und Old-School-Beats mit Jazz- und Funk-Einflüssen kombiniert. Seine musikalische Karriere begann in den 1990er Jahren als DJ in New Yorker Clubs, wo er mit aufstrebenden Hip-Hop-Künstlern zusammenarbeitete. 2003 veröffentlichte er sein Debütalbum "The Green Tape", das ihm einen Ruf als talentierter und kreativer Produzent einbrachte.
