Carpathian Forest è una band norvegese di black metal formatasi nel 1990 da Nattefrost e Nordavind. Considerati uno dei gruppi pionieri del genere, hanno contribuito a definire l'estetica e la sonorità del black metal norvegese degli anni '90. Il loro sound è caratterizzato da un ritmo veloce e aggressivo, riff di chitarra distorti e testi oscuri e satanici. Tra i brani più rappresentativi figurano "Blood Must Be Paid", "The Serpent's Tongue" e "In the Shadow of the Black Forest". L'album "Through Forests Dark and Deep" (1993) è considerato un classico del genere. La band ha collaborato con altri artisti black metal norvegesi come Mayhem e Emperor, contribuendo a creare una scena musicale underground molto influente.
