Gamma Ray ist eine deutsche Power-Metal-Band aus dem Norden Deutschlands, die von Kai Hansen gegründet wurde, nachdem er Helloween verlassen hatte. Hansen ist der aktuelle Leadsänger, Gitarrist und Hauptkomponist der Band. Gamma Ray gilt als eine der wichtigsten Bands der deutschen Heavy-Metal-Szene. Obwohl die Band in ihren frühen Jahren viele Besetzungswechsel durchmachte, hat sich die aktuelle Besetzung seit 1997 als stabil erwiesen. Ihr Sound zeichnet sich durch melodische Riffs, eingängige Melodien und epische Texte aus, die fantastische und mythologische Themen erkunden.
