Samiam è una band californiana formatasi a Berkeley alla fine del 1988 dopo lo scioglimento di Isocracy, gruppo storico del club Gilman. Il loro primo concerto risale a gennaio 1989 con Christ on Parade. Hanno pubblicato dischi attraverso New Red Archives e Hopeless Records negli Stati Uniti e Burning Heart Records in Europa. A metà degli anni '90, la band ha avuto due uscite su etichette discografiche maggiori, Atlantic Records nel 1994 e Ignition/Tommy Boy nel 1997.
