Half Past Forever è stata una rock band locale di scarsa notorietà fino a quando il cantante principale Chris Sligh non ha partecipato ad American Idol durante la sesta stagione. La sua interpretazione di «Kiss From a Rose» di Seal ha conquistato un applauso in piedi dalla giudice Paula Abdul e ha proseguito fino alla finale, piazzandosi infine al decimo posto.
