Satyricon è una delle band black metal norvegesi più influenti e longeve. Fondata nel 1991 da Sigurd "Satyr" Wongraven e Kjetil "Frost" Haraldstad, il gruppo ha contribuito in modo significativo alla definizione del genere negli anni '90. Il loro debutto, l'EP *All the Fools Are on Their Side*, risale al 1994 ed è considerato un classico del black metal norvegese. Nel 1996 pubblicano l'album di successo *Dark Medieval Times*, che li consacra come una delle band più importanti del genere. Nel corso degli anni, Satyr ha esplorato nuovi territori musicali, incorporando elementi di rock progressivo e musica elettronica nei loro album successivi. La band continua ad essere attiva fino ai giorni nostri, pubblicando nel 2017 l'album *Deep Calleth Upon Deep*.
