The Darkness sind eine britische Hard-Rock-Band, die 2000 in Lowestoft gegründet wurde. Die Band besteht aus Justin Hawkins (Gesang), Dan Hawkins (Gitarre), Frankie Poullain (Bass) und Rufus Taylor (Schlagzeug). Internationale Bekanntheit erlangten sie mit ihrem Debütalbum *Permission to Land* (2003). Das Album, unterstützt von den Singles "I Believe in a Thing Called Love", "Growing on Me", "Get Your Hands off My Woman" und "Love Is Only a Feeling", wurde im Vereinigten Königreich vierfach platin ausgezeichnet. 2004 gewannen The Darkness drei Brit Awards: Best British Group, Best British Rock Act und Best British Album. Nach einer Pause kehrten The Darkness mit dem Album *Hot Cakes* (2007) zurück und veröffentlichten bis heute weiterhin Musik.
