Roger Keith Barrett, noto come Syd Barrett, è stato un cantautore, chitarrista e compositore britannico, considerato uno dei pionieri del rock psichedelico. Nato a Cambridge nel 1946, Barrett fondò i Pink Floyd nel 1965 insieme a Nick Mason, Roger Waters e Richard Wright. Come frontman e principale autore delle prime canzoni del gruppo, contribuì in modo determinante al loro successo iniziale con album come "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn" (1967), considerato un capolavoro del rock psichedelico. Barrett lasciò i Pink Floyd nel 1968 a causa di problemi di salute mentale, causati probabilmente dall'uso eccessivo di droghe.
