Tankard è una band thrash metal proveniente da Francoforte sul Meno, in Germania, fondata nel 1982. Dopo aver perso il chitarrista a causa dell'immagine di un gruppo di ubriachi, la band ha pubblicato il suo primo disco nel 1986. Da quel momento, la band ha continuato a creare canzoni e dischi nello stesso stile con cui è iniziata: canzoni metal veloci in onore dell'alcol. Si autoproclamano "Re della Birra" in onore del personaggio folklorico Gambrinus. Il loro genere musicale è spesso definito come "alcoholic metal". Tra i brani più rappresentativi si ricordano *Chemical Invasion*, *Zombie Attack* e *Beer Barrel Polka*.
