Angels and Airwaves ist ein amerikanisches Musikprojekt, das 2005 von Tom DeLonge gegründet wurde, dem ehemaligen Frontmann der Band Blink-182. Das Projekt entstand während der Pause der Pop-Punk-Band und sieht DeLonge die Erkundung von epischeren und experimentelleren Klängen vor, beeinflusst vom Progressive Rock und elektronischer Musik. Ihr Debütalbum "We Don't Need to Whisper" wurde 2006 veröffentlicht und erreichte trotz gemischter Kritiken einen moderaten kommerziellen Erfolg. Das Konzeptalbum "I-Empire" (2007) setzt die Liebes- und Kriegsgeschichte des vorherigen Albums fort und erreicht Platz eins der US Billboard Charts. DeLonge hat immer seine Absicht zum Ausdruck gebracht, ein narratives Universum um die Band herum zu schaffen, mit Filmen und Comics, die die musikalische Vision ergänzen.
