Metric ist eine kanadische Band aus dem Genre Indie Rock und New Wave, die 1998 in Toronto gegründet wurde. Die Band, bestehend aus Emily Haines (Gesang, Keyboard), James Shaw (Gitarre, Backing Vocals), Joshua Winstead (Bass) und Joules (Schlagzeug), hat internationale Bekanntheit durch ihren energiegeladenen und melodischen Sound erlangt, der sich durch prägnante Gitar riffs, eingängige Melodien und nachdenkliche Texte auszeichnet.
