Texas ist eine schottische Rockband aus Bearsden, Glasgow. Gegründet wurde die Band 1986 von Johnny McElhone (ehemals bei Altered Images und Hipsway). Ihr Live-Debüt gab das Ensemble im März 1988 an der Universität Dundee in Schottland. Der Name stammt aus dem Wim Wenders Film *Paris, Texas* aus dem Jahr 1984. Ihr Debütalbum *Southside* erschien 1989 zusammen mit der Single «I Don't Want a Lover», einem weltweiten Erfolg, der Platz 8 in den britischen Charts erreichte und hohe Platzierungen in ganz Europa erzielte. *Southside* debütierte auf Platz 3 in Großbritannien und auf Platz 88 der US Billboard 200-Albumcharts. Ihr zweites Album, *Mothers Heaven*, erschien 1991 und erreichte Platz 32 der britischen Albumcharts; ihr drittes Studioalbum, *Ricks Road*, erreichte Platz 18 in den UK Charts. Zu den bekanntesten Songs des Bands gehören «Say What You Want», «In Demand» und «Black Eyed Boy».
