Bloom

Destruction sounds like rain
Hissing in liquid whispers
Laughter can sound like pain
When you’re going nowhere

Derision in their eyes
Cast down on all beneath them
A thin, grotesque disguise
That’s fooling no one

Each new indignity
A penance for existence
You crave stability
When you’re going nowhere

But there’s a light that shines for me
That’s always barely out of reach
That lovingly guides my way home
A distant candle sheds its bloom
A balefire burning through the gloom
Reminding me I’m not alone

Tied in an endless knot
The days hard to distinguish
Collapse is all you’ve got

Exhaustion in my bones
Dragging a heavy anchor
It feels like you’re alone
When you’re going nowhere
