Wire è una band inglese di rock formatasi a Londra nell'ottobre 1976 da Colin Newman (voce, chitarra), Graham Lewis (basso, voce), Bruce Gilbert (chitarra) e Robert Gotobed (nato Robert Grey, 21 aprile 1951, Marefield, Leicestershire) (batteria). Originariamente associati alla scena punk rock, hanno partecipato all'album "Live at the Roxy WC2", un documento fondamentale della scena. In seguito sono diventati centrali nello sviluppo del post-punk. La loro musica è caratterizzata da strutture complesse, testi intellettuali e un approccio sperimentale che ha influenzato generazioni di artisti. Tra i brani più rappresentativi: "Pink Flag", "Outdoor Miner" e "Ahead of the Pack". L'album di debutto "Pink Flag" (1977) è considerato un classico del post-punk.
