Candlemass ist eine schwedische Doom-Metal-Band, die in den 1980er Jahren in Stockholm von Leif Edling (Bass) gegründet wurde. Der Bandleader und Hauptkomponist prägte das Genre maßgeblich. Nach fünf Studioalben und ausgedehnten Tourneen in den 1980er und frühen 1990er Jahren löste sich die Band 1993 auf, um vier Jahre später wieder zusammenzukommen.
