Black Oak Arkansas è stato un gruppo di Southern Rock di successo negli anni '70. Il loro brano più famoso, "Jim Dandy (to the Rescue)", vedeva la collaborazione con la sensazionale Miss Ruby Starr. Il gruppo ha riscosso un enorme successo anche nei tour, grazie all'energia delle loro performance e all'immagine iconica di Jim Dandy. L'energia dal vivo del gruppo era spesso esaltata quando Ruby Starr accompagnava il gruppo sia in concerto che in numerose apparizioni televisive. Black Oak Arkansas è stato anche il trampolino di lancio per il batterista Tommy Aldridge, che ha poi raggiunto la fama con artisti come Ozzy Osbourne e Whitesnake.
