Michael Franti ist ein US-amerikanischer Singer-Songwriter, Dichter und Musikproduzent, geboren am 21. April 1966. Seine Abstammung umfasst afrikanische, amerikanisch-indigene, irische, französische und deutsche Wurzeln. Franti ist bekannt für seine Musik, die Elemente von Hip-Hop, Reggae, Rock und Folk miteinander verbindet. In den 1980er Jahren begann er seine Karriere mit der Band The Beatnigs, gründete dann 1994 Spearhead.
