Smash Mouth ist eine amerikanische Rockband, die 1994 in San Jose, Kalifornien, gegründet wurde. Die ursprüngliche Besetzung bestand aus Steve Harwell (Gesang), Paul De Lisle (Bass), Michael Krompass (Gitarre) und Randy Cooke (Schlagzeug). Ihr Musikstil zeichnet sich durch eine Fusion aus Power Pop, Ska und Alternative Rock mit Einflüssen aus Punk und Surf Rock aus. Der internationale Durchbruch gelang 1997 mit dem Single "Walkin' on the Sun", der auf ihrem gleichnamigen Album veröffentlicht wurde. 1999 wurde "All Star" dank seiner Verwendung im Soundtrack des Films "Shrek" zu einem globalen Hit. Weitere erfolgreiche Songs sind "Pacific Coast Party" (2001) und "I'm a Believer" (ein Cover von The Monkees). Nach Harwells Ausstieg im Jahr 2021 aufgrund gesundheitlicher Probleme setzte die Band mit einem neuen Sänger fort. Steve Harwell starb am 4. September 2023.
