I Misanthrope sono una band heavy metal francese formatasi nel 1989. Considerati uno dei pilastri del movimento black metal francese, hanno contribuito a definire il sound oscuro e aggressivo di questo genere musicale. La loro musica è caratterizzata da riff distorti, batteria potente e testi spesso incentrati su temi apocalittici, satanici e anti-sociali. Nel corso della loro carriera hanno pubblicato diversi album, tra cui "Misanthrope" (1990), "The Blackest Day" (1992) e "In the Shadow of Death" (1994).
