Death SS, originariamente noti come In Death of Steve Sylvester, sono un gruppo musicale italiano attivo dal 1980. Considerati pionieri del genere horror/gothic metal, hanno influenzato numerose band successive con il loro sound dark e le atmosfere cupe. Il nome del gruppo è un omaggio al personaggio di Steve Sylvester, protagonista di una serie di film horror degli anni '70. La musica dei Death SS si caratterizza per l'uso di chitarre distorte, batteria potente e voce roca, spesso accompagnata da testi in inglese che trattano temi come la morte, il satanismo e la paura. Tra i brani più rappresentativi figurano "Death SS", "The Devil's Son" e "Black Sabbath". L'album di debutto, "Death SS", uscito nel 1982, è considerato un classico del genere horror metal. Il gruppo ha collaborato con artisti come Claudio Simonetti dei Goblin e ha partecipato a numerosi festival underground.
