Sting, eigentlich Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner, ist ein britischer Sänger-Songwriter, Multiinstrumentalist und Schauspieler, geboren 1951 in Newcastle upon Tyne. Er erlangte internationale Bekanntheit als Bassist, Sänger und Hauptkomponist der Band The Police, die von 1977 bis 1984 aktiv war.
