William John Clifton Haley, meglio conosciuto come Bill Haley (Detroit, 5 luglio 1925 – Londra, 9 febbraio 1981), è stato un cantante, musicista e attore statunitense considerato uno dei pionieri del rock and roll. Fondatore della band Bill Haley and His Comets, ha portato il genere a una popolarità mondiale negli anni '50. Il suo stile energico, basato su blues, country e rhythm and blues, ha influenzato generazioni di musicisti. Il brano più famoso di Haley è «Rock Around the Clock», pubblicato nel 1954 e diventato un inno del rock and roll. La canzone raggiunse la vetta delle classifiche americane e britanniche, contribuendo a definire l'immagine della cultura giovanile dell'epoca. Il successo di «Rock Around the Clock» fu amplificato dalla sua inclusione nella colonna sonora del film «Il seme della violenza» (1955) e dal suo utilizzo come sigla della sitcom «Happy Days» (dal 1974).
