Pete Shelley (nato Peter McNeish il 17 luglio 1955 a Leigh, Lancashire, Inghilterra – morto il 6 dicembre 2018) è stato un cantautore e chitarrista britannico, noto soprattutto come cofondatore e frontman del gruppo punk rock Buzzcocks. Shelley ha contribuito a definire l'estetica e la musica del movimento punk inglese degli anni '70 con canzoni memorabili come «Ever Fallen in Love (With Someone You Shouldn't've)» e «What Do I Get?». Dopo lo scioglimento dei Buzzcocks, Shelley ha intrapreso una carriera solista di successo, pubblicando album come «Homosapien» (1989) e «The State of Mind» (2006). La sua musica è caratterizzata da melodie orecchiabili, testi introspettivi e un'energia punk contagiosa. Shelley è considerato una figura chiave nella storia del rock britannico.
