Folk Implosion è un duo indie rock statunitense formatosi a Boston nei primi anni novanta da Lou Barlow e John Davis. Il progetto nacque come esperimento parallelo all'attività di Barlow con i Sebadoh, band in cui era già noto per il suo songwriting introspettivo e melodie orecchiabili. Il nome del gruppo deriva da un brano della Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. La musica dei Folk Implosion si caratterizza per una combinazione di rock alternativo, folk e pop, con influenze psichedeliche e sperimentali. Il loro sound è spesso descritto come malinconico ma anche solare, grazie all'uso di melodie orecchiabili e testi introspettivi che esplorano temi come l'amore, la solitudine e la ricerca di identità. L'album di debutto del gruppo, "Take It Back", uscì nel 1994 e ottenne un discreto successo underground. Il loro album più famoso è però "One Day As A Global Warning" (1996), che include il singolo "Natural One", diventato un successo radiofonico grazie alla sua presenza nella colonna sonora del film "Empire Records". Dopo diversi anni di attività, i Folk Implosion si sono sciolti nel 2000. Nel 2018 hanno annunciato il loro ritorno con un nuovo album, "The New Folk Implosion", che ha riscosso un buon successo tra i fan.
