Pavlov's Dog è un gruppo rock progressivo/AOR formatosi a St. Louis nel 1972. La formazione originale comprendeva David Surkamp (voce e chitarra), Steve Scorfina (chitarra solista), Mike Safron (batteria), Rick Stockton (basso), David Hamilton (tastiere), Doug Rayburn (mellotron e flauto) e Siegfried Carver, nato Richard Nadler (vari strumenti a corda, tra cui il vitar, un ibrido tra chitarra e violino). Richard Nadler lasciò la band dopo il primo album. Nel 1976, dopo l'uscita del secondo album 'At the Sound of the Bell', David Hamilton lasciò il gruppo per essere sostituito da Tom Nickeson. Il batterista dei Yes Bill Bruford partecipò come musicista di sessione e il terzo album vide Kirk Sarkisian alla batteria.
