The Olympics furono un gruppo doo-wop formatosi nel 1957 dal cantante principale Walter Ward (nato il 28 agosto 1940 a Jackson, Mississippi; morto il 11 dicembre 2006 a Northridge, California). Il gruppo comprendeva Eddie Lewis (tenore, cugino di Ward), Charles Fizer (tenore), Walter Hammond (baritono) e Melvin King (basso); tranne Lewis, erano amici di una scuola superiore di Los Angeles, California. Il loro primo disco fu accreditato a Walter Ward and the Challengers ("I Can Tell" su Melatone). Il gruppo raggiunse il successo con brani come "Western Movies", "The Way You Do The Things You Do" e "Love Is A Hurtin' Thing".
