April Wine ist eine kanadische Hardrock-Band, die 1969 in Waverley, Nova Scotia, gegründet wurde. Die Gründungsmitglieder waren Myles Goodwyn (Gesang und Gitarre), David Henman (Gitarre), Ritchie Henman (Schlagzeug) und Jim Henman (Bass). Nur Goodwyn war während der gesamten Geschichte der Band dabei, während die anderen Mitglieder im Laufe der Jahre wechselten. Der Erfolg kam mit ihrem zweiten Studioalbum *On Record* (1972), das in Kanada zwei große Hits produzierte: «You Could Have Been a Lady» (ein Cover des Songs von Hot Chocolate) und «Bad Side of the Moon» (ursprünglich von Elton John). Die Band festigte ihren Ruf mit ihrem dritten Album *Electric Jewels* (1974), das die Hits «Just Like That», «Lady Run, Lady Hide» und «Weeping Widow» enthält. Der größte Teil des Erfolgs von April Wine stammt aus den 1970er und frühen 1980er Jahren. In dieser Zeit veröffentlichten sie 12 Studioalben und hatten zahlreiche Nummer-eins-Hits in Kanada und tourten hauptsächlich durch das Land. Die Band löste sich 1986 auf, reformierte sich aber 1992 und veröffentlichte vier weitere Studioalben. Derzeit touren sie weiterhin durch Kanada und die USA.
