La Nitty Gritty Dirt Band è un gruppo musicale statunitense formatosi a Long Beach, California nel 1966. Considerati pionieri del country rock, hanno saputo mescolare influenze folk e bluegrass con sonorità più moderne, creando un sound originale e riconoscibile. Tra i membri fondatori si annoverano Jeff Hanna (voce, chitarra), Jimmie Fadden (batteria) e John McEuen (mandolino, banjo). Nel corso degli anni la formazione ha visto l'alternarsi di diversi musicisti, ma Hanna e Fadden sono rimasti costanti fin dalla nascita del gruppo. Tra i loro album più importanti ricordiamo "Will the Circle Be Unbroken" (1972), un lavoro che ha segnato una svolta nella carriera della band e ha contribuito a diffondere il sound country rock in tutto il mondo.
