Bathory è stata una storica band heavy metal svedese, fondata nel 1983 da Quorthon (pseudonimo di Lars-Göran Petrov). Considerati pionieri sia del black metal che del Viking metal, hanno influenzato profondamente il panorama musicale underground. Il nome della band deriva dalla celebre contessa ungherese Elisabetta Bathory, nota per le sue pratiche sanguinaria e la leggenda che la circonda. Bathory ha pubblicato una serie di album fondamentali, tra cui "Blood Fire Death" (1987), considerato un punto di riferimento del black metal, e "Hammerheart" (1990), che introduce elementi folk e viking. Altri album importanti sono "Twilight of the Gods" (1996) e "Requiem" (2001). Tra i brani più rappresentativi si ricordano "Total Destruction", "In League with Satan", "The Lake", "Equimanthorn" e "Outro Aeternum".
