Uriah Heep ist eine englische Rockband, die 1969 vom Produzenten Gerry Bron gegründet wurde. Die ursprüngliche Besetzung umfasste den Sänger David Byron, den Multi-Instrumentalisten Ken Hensley, die Gitarristen Mick Box und Paul Newton sowie den Schlagzeuger Nigel Olsson. Im Laufe ihrer Karriere hat sich die Band mehrfach neu zusammengesetzt und ihre musikalischen Stile verändert, von Progressive Rock über Hard Rock bis hin zu Jazz-Einflüssen. Als Vorläufer des Progressive Metal gelten Uriah Heep als bahnbrechend. In den 1970er Jahren erreichten sie mit Alben wie *Demons and Wizards* (1972) und *The Magician's Birthday* (1972) großen Erfolg.
