In every hick town in Caledonia
Across this pseudo nation
You can see the most fucked up scum
that was shat into creation
Where a blue McKewan's lager top equals
no imagination
You're hunbelievable
You're hunbelievable
What do they do with all the confiscated bevy,
The polis?
Buckets and bags of it?
Give it to the jakies? Nah.
Drink it themselves? Mibbe.
Give it back to the retailers
so they can sell it all back to us over again
The cunts (echo)
You're hunbelievable
You're hunbelievable
The mystery of Scottish sport
Is why we hate the English so.
I love the English very much
As long as they don't fuckin beat us
in the European nations cup
You're hunbelievable
You're hunbelievable
Sitting outside Wembley in '79,
Jock punks in London, massive carry out
Talking to a guy in an ice cream van
So drunk for weeks and we're goin
Way past the point of wantin tickets.
It would be horrendous now if someone
was to hand you a fuckin ticket
You'd have to leave all the bevy
outside the grounds by the polis dump bins
No fuckin way!
Ten minutes into the fuckin game
We'd be climbing up the walls to get out.
Fuc kin hell.
Remember the banner
Alcoholism beats communism ,
Well it beats the fuck out of football as well.
Think you're a success
Your psyche's a mess
Your economy is in distress
Sittin and waiting for the inevitable shot out
that never comes
Sittin and waiting for the inevitable shot out
that never fuckin comes
Bobby Gillespie founded Primal Scream in 1982, before becoming the drummer for seminal alt-rock band The Jesus And Mary Chain. He performed on their acclaimed debut Psychocandy (1986) before leaving to focus on Primal Scream again. It took a number of line-up and style changes, and a handful of unsuccesful singles, before the band got into full stride. Debut album Sonic Flower Groove (1987) was exactly as the title suggests - jangly, psychedelic indie-rock . A self-titled second album (1989) introduced Rolling Stones-inspired rock, but was met with mixed reviews. However, the band made a big breakthrough with third album Screamadelica (1991) which showed a marked change in sound. Produced by DJ Andrew Weatherall, the album combined dub, gospel and house into a hazy, groovy mix that was raved about by critics. It won the Mercury Music Prize and is often listed as an all-time great record. Give Out But Don't Give Up (1994) saw another stylistic change, with the band reverting to Stones-style rock'n'roll. The change wasn't appreciated by the press, but it did yield a Top 10 hit in "Rocks". Vanishing Point (1997) was a dark dub album that received positive reviews, but the intense XTRMNTR (2001) was massively praised, with many critics saying it was their best album since Screamadelica. Evil Heat (2002) and Riot City Blues (2006) were released to mixed reviews.
