Alejandro Escovedo è un cantautore e musicista statunitense di origini messicane, nato a San Antonio, Texas, il 10 gennaio 1951. Considerato uno dei pilastri del movimento punk rock texano degli anni '80, ha poi esplorato generi come il folk, il country e la musica latina, creando un sound unico e personale. La sua carriera è caratterizzata da una profonda introspettività e da testi che affrontano temi sociali e personali con sensibilità e autenticità. Tra i suoi album più importanti ricordiamo "Gravity" (1988), "Thirteen Years" (1992) e "Real Animal" (2002). Alcuni dei suoi brani più rappresentativi sono "Always a Friend", "Sensitive Soul", "The City", "I Want You Back". Escovedo ha collaborato con artisti come Lucinda Williams, The Blasters e Los Lobos.
