Ikara Colt war eine Art-Rock-Band, die 1999 in London von Kunststudenten der Guildhall University gegründet wurde. Die vierköpfige Band hatte eine fünfjährige Karriere, die am 17. Januar 2005 endete. Während ihrer kurzen Existenz veröffentlichten sie zwei Alben und eine EP. Ikara Colt erklärte in mehreren Interviews ihre Absicht, sich aufzulösen, bevor sie «zu einem alten, müden und gelangweilten Outfit» würden, was die Entscheidung begründete, ihre Aktivitäten nach nur zwei Alben und einer EP zu beenden. In Großbritannien waren sie bei dem unabhängigen Label Fantastic Plastic Records unter Vertrag, während Epitaph die Verteilung ihrer Platten in den USA übernahm. Ihr Sound war geprägt von progressiven, psychedelischen und elektronischen Einflüssen, mit oft introvertierten und poetischen Texten. Zu ihren bekanntesten Stücken gehören 'The Sun', 'A Thousand Years' und 'Black Hole'.
