Stewart Armstrong Copeland (Los Angeles, 16 luglio 1952) è un musicista statunitense di fama internazionale, conosciuto soprattutto come batterista e compositore dei The Police. Nato a Los Angeles da genitori britannici, si trasferì in Inghilterra all'età di sette anni. Dopo aver studiato musica classica al Royal College of Music di Londra, Copeland iniziò la sua carriera musicale negli anni '70 con diverse band locali. Nel 1977 incontrò Sting e Henry Padovani, dando vita ai The Police. Il gruppo raggiunse il successo mondiale negli anni '80 con album come *Outlandos d'Amour*, *Reggatta de Blanc* e *Synchronicity*, caratterizzati da un mix di reggae, rock e pop. Copeland contribuì in modo significativo alla sonorità dei The Police, con la sua tecnica batteristica innovativa e le sue composizioni originali. Dopo lo scioglimento del gruppo nel 1986, Copeland ha continuato a lavorare come compositore per film e televisione, collaborando con registi come David Lynch e Spike Lee. Ha anche fondato il suo progetto solista, *The Police*, e ha pubblicato diversi album di musica elettronica e sperimentale.
