Star One è un progetto musicale progressive metal fondato nel 2002 dall'olandese Arjen Anthony Lucassen, già noto per il suo lavoro con i gruppi Ayreon e Stream of Passion. Il primo album, omonimo, uscì nel 2003 e presentò una line-up di musicisti ospiti di grande talento, tra cui gli ex membri dei Dream Theater John Petrucci e Jordan Rudess. Il sound di Star One si caratterizza per un mix di progressive metal con influenze symphonic e power metal, spesso arricchito da elementi jazz e classici. 2006 vide la luce il secondo album, "The Second Star to the Right", che consolidò il successo del progetto. Tra i brani più rappresentativi di Star One ricordiamo: "Starlight", "The Second Star to the Right", "The Last Goodbye".
