Moonspell è un gruppo musicale di gothic metal portoghese formatosi a Lisbona nel 1990. Considerati uno dei pionieri del genere, hanno contribuito a definire l'estetica e il sound dark dell'heavy metal europeo. Il loro stile si caratterizza per la combinazione di riff pesanti, melodie classiche e atmosfere cupe, con influenze provenienti dal rock gotico, dall'opera e dalla musica classica. Tra i brani più rappresentativi figurano "Awake", "Alma Mater" e "Fullmoon Madness". L'album di debutto "Wolfheart" (1996) è considerato un classico del genere gothic metal. Nel corso della loro carriera, hanno collaborato con artisti come Cradle of Filth e Theatre of Tragedy. Moonspell continua ad essere una forza attiva nel panorama musicale underground, pubblicando album e tournèe in tutto il mondo.
