James Paul McCartney KBE (Liverpool, 18 giugno 1942) è un compositore, musicista e polistrumentista britannico di fama mondiale. Oltre alla musica, si è cimentato anche in attività come attore, pittore, produttore discografico e cinematografico, sceneggiatore e attivista per la difesa dei diritti degli animali. La sua ascesa al successo internazionale è avvenuta con i Beatles, insieme a John Lennon, George Harrison e Ringo Starr. Con Lennon formò una delle coppie di compositori più influenti della storia, scrivendo alcune delle canzoni più amate nella musica moderna. Dopo lo scioglimento dei Beatles, McCartney ha formato il gruppo Wings con la moglie Linda McCartney e Denny Laine. Successivamente si è dedicato alla carriera solista, componendo colonne sonore, musica colta e ambient, pubblicando numerosi singoli e partecipando a progetti di beneficenza. È padre della stilista Stella McCartney.
