Youssou N'Dour è un cantante, musicista e politico senegalese nato a Dakar nel 1959. Considerato uno dei più grandi artisti africani di tutti i tempi, N'Dour ha raggiunto fama internazionale grazie alla sua musica che fonde tradizioni musicali africane con influenze pop e world music. Inizia la sua carriera negli anni '70 come cantante in un gruppo di musica tradizionale senegalese, per poi emergere come solista negli anni '80 con album come "Set" (1984) e "Tumba" (1988). N'Dour ha collaborato con artisti internazionali come Peter Gabriel, Bruce Springsteen e Sting. Nel 2004 è stato nominato Ministro della Cultura del Senegal, dimostrando il suo impegno politico per la sua patria. Tra i suoi brani più famosi si ricordano "7 Seconds" (con Neneh Cherry), "Djam Djam", "Isla Bonita" e "Bounou Bouna." N'Dour ha vinto numerosi premi musicali, tra cui un Grammy Award nel 2005 per l'album "Egypt".
