The Band è stato un gruppo rock canadese-statunitense formatosi a Toronto nel 1967 e scioltosi nel 1976 per poi riformarsi nel 1983 fino al 1999. La formazione originale comprendeva Robbie Robertson (chitarra), Richard Manuel, Garth Hudson, Rick Danko e Levon Helm. Considerati uno dei gruppi più influenti della musica rock americana, The Band ha raggiunto la fama negli anni '70 grazie a un sound folk-rock caratterizzato da arrangiamenti orchestrali complessi e testi poetici.
