The Waterboys sono un gruppo musicale scozzese fondato nel 1983 dal cantautore e musicista Mike Scott. Il nome del gruppo deriva da una frase presente nella canzone "The Kids" dell'album di Lou Reed "Berlin". Il sound dei The Waterboys ha attraversato diverse fasi, influenzato dalle collaborazioni con diversi artisti nel corso degli anni. Inizialmente si sono distinti per un rock energico e melodico, poi hanno esplorato sonorità folk irlandesi con l'album di successo "Fisherman's Blues" (1988), considerato uno dei capolavori del genere. Successivamente, il gruppo ha abbracciato un sound più intimo e introspettivo, caratterizzato da influenze folk rock. Dopo una pausa nel 1993, The Waterboys si sono riuniti nel 2000 e continuano a registrare e esibirsi con successo.
